Home Project Trends: What Homeowners Are Prioritizing
Ink Drop / Adobestock

Despite economic uncertainty, homeowners remain committed to investing in their homes. A recent Angi report found that, while overall home improvement spending dipped, 93% of homeowners still plan to take on a project this year. From interior refreshes to functional upgrades, today’s improvements are less about splurging—and more about smart updates that improve daily life and add lasting value.

Simple, Smart Style Leads

Interior painting tops the to-do list, with 22% of homeowners planning a refresh. Popular choices include warm neutrals, monochromatic color schemes, and painted cabinets to update kitchens affordably. Bathroom renovations are next in line, often aimed at maximizing functionality with larger showers, new tile, or floating vanities. Younger homeowners are especially drawn to practical upgrades paired with bold accents like matte-black or brushed-gold fixtures.

Fresh Floors and Outdoor Fix-Ups

Flooring projects remain a solid investment. Many homeowners are replacing carpet with low-maintenance options such as luxury vinyl plank and laminate, especially in light, natural finishes like white oak. Outside, landscaping remains a high priority. Homeowners are choosing manageable improvements in the $1,000–$2,000 range, like new mulch, fresh sod, or seasonal planting. Cleanup and storm-recovery work is also on the rise, especially in areas hit by severe weather.

Future-Focused Fixes

Many homeowners are taking a long-term view. Projects that support multigenerational living or aging in place—like wider doorways, better lighting, or grab bars—are gaining traction. Others are looking to reduce costs with energy-efficient upgrades such as smart thermostats, LED lighting, and better insulation. Across the board, people are prioritizing cost-effective improvements that bring both immediate comfort and future-ready functionality.
